Developing a unique brand identity
Using a combination of visual storytelling and character development, I have helped create recognizable brands that reflect an organization’s purpose and ethos.
Watts Re: Imagined
Project
Launch a new community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the historic neighborhood of Watts as a sustainable community where people, progress and the planet.
Strategy
Create a sense of a renaissance in Watts that highlights the inimitable culture and history in balance with the innovative projects that aim to regenerate the neighborhood.
Develop a brand identity born out of Watts rather than created about Watts. It should celebrate the originality, resilience and revolutionary aspects of the neighborhood and demonstrate how those qualities are essential components of the revival.
Deliverables
Directed the development of a brand identity. Oversaw the design of a new website and wrote all copy for the website and social media platforms. Generated media coverage for the launch of the organization and its proposed projects.
The Williams Institute
Project
Relaunch the Williams Institute’s brand to create a more modern, consistent identity that is recognizable in an increasingly crowded landscape of LGBTQ research.
Strategy
Create a brand identity that reflects the preeminence of a pioneer in LGBTQ research while reflecting its dedication to progress and innovation.
Focus on the organization’s unique role as an independent academic research organization dedicated to rigorous research while remaining accessible to a general audience.
Deliverables
Directed the development of a distinct brand identity and guided the production of a graphic design system for reports, presentations, and a new website.
